The male's body is extremely small, only one-tenth the size of the female's.
[Two Become One]
When a male finds a female, he attaches himself to her body. This adhesion goes as far as the blood stream, and the male nourishes himself from the female.
Although this seems like an entirely one-sided parasitic relationship, it is also favourable for the female. It is thought that the female can have the male's sperm release at the optimal time for fertilisation.
Sometimes several males can be seen attached to a single female."
Location
Endless Ocean
These are seen in the Abyss. These can be spotted easily from a distance, and appear at various depths.
Endless Ocean 2
These are found in the Zahhab Region Depths, more frequently in the Northern Crevasse than in the Southern.
Behavior
These creatures are found as individual specimens floating slowly about in deep, dark areas of the sea. In Endless Ocean, it is nearly impossible to learn about these creatures by the normal method of feeding them, and the player must instead use the underwater pen near these creatures in order to obtain any information about them whatsoever. The Pelican Eel is similar to the Fanfin in this aspect.
Notes
- A different common name for this creature is the Hairy Anglerfish, once again in reference to its odd set of adornments.
