Description

Trivia

Location

Endless Ocean 2

Apollo only appears at night in Deep Hole. He can be seen floating above the Mouth of Truth, replacing the regular ocean sunfish that is found there during the daytime. He can be found from the second visit onwards, as long as the player has seen the normal sunfish at least once. It occasionally floats towards the Coliseum, but it never leaves the Mouth. It also tends to hover slightly lower than its regular counterpart.

It is recommended that the player exercise caution whilst trying to obtain Apollo's information, as an aggressive tiger shark also swims around the Coliseum at night.

Behavior

Apollo acts similarly to the regular ocean sunfish that takes its place during the daytime, slowly patrolling the area without displaying any unusual behaviors. The player can get Apollo's trivia information by touching him.

Dialogue

Endless Ocean 2

Introduction

Jean-Eric: "What a surprise! I've heard stories about this legendary ocean sunfish... They call him Apollo. No doubt about it, that's him. He really is as golden as they say. It's hard to believe such a fish exists. He's definitely deserving of his name, don't you think? Truly a golden god. Opportunities like these are few and far between. You have done very well!"

Notes

  • This is one of Jean-Eric's favorite creatures.
  • Apollo, the mythological figure this legendary fish was named after, is the Greco-Roman god of many things, including (but not limited to) music, truth, prophecy, healing, the sun and light, plague, and poetry[1][2].
  • In Apollo's Japanese trivia, it is claimed that ocean sunfish are referred to as "big heads swimming underwater" in German. This is untrue; the only standardized common name the species Mola mola has in German is mondfisch, or "moonfish" in English[3]. This discrepancy was corrected in every other localization of this creature's trivia.
