The King's Chamber is a landmark in Endless Ocean 2's Valka Castle.
In-Game[]
Flora, Fauna, and Geography[]
Local Life[]
The sea life in this landmark consists mostly of lined surgeonfish and samurai squirrelfish, though there are some other small tropical fish and a few cloudy catsharks. Some zoom-mode glows are also home to smaller species like luminescent sea slugs.
Location and Geography[]
The King's Chamber can be found at coordinates B-3 in Valka Castle, behind a locked door. It contains a desk, a table, several chairs, a fireplace, a portrait of Prince Valka on the wall, and several large bookshelves lining the western wall, in which The 7th Tome can be found. The payer can access the Secret Room from this area, once they discover the hidden switch that unlocks the secret door behind one of the bookcases.
While the King's Chamber is inaccessible at first, the player can unlock it once they find the Glorious Key sitting on the throne against the western wall of the Mermaid's Ballroom. The throne is "guarded" by a solitary luna lionfish, which can be easily lured away from the throne with food.
Two of the Constellation Coins - the Grus and Centaurus coins - can be found under zoom-mode glows in this room. When using the Multisensor here, a book can be found in front of the fireplace, and a doll can be found near the table.
Story Significance[]
After the player opens the entrance to the Secret Room during Valka Castle's story sequence, a passing North Atlantic Right Whale sings the Song of Dragons - and the doors to the King's Chamber shut and lock on their own. Oceana tries to call Jean-Eric over the radio. The signal, however, doesn't get through, and she starts to panic. Then, after taking a moment to calm herself down, she notes that she can't stop thinking about "that hidden door we just opened" - the player's hint to investigate the Secret Room.
When the player returns to the Secret Room, they find one of the Okeanos Tablets sitting on the desk there. This gets them thinking:
Player: A lapis lazuli tablet...it's beautiful. There are what look like characters or designs carved into the surface. It's been preserved so carefully, it must be incredibly valuable.
I wonder if the owner of Valka Castle created all this just to hide this tablet. If he did, then this must be a place he visited regularly...
And that means there must be some way to reset the trap! Let's go back to the King's Chamber and search it again!"
They go back to the main room to investigate further, and scoping out the Chamber's desk reveals the presence of a lever. Using the lever does nothing outwardly, but seems to move some mechanism in the door; investigating the door prompts the player to suggest that they and Oceana try to open the door together, with one of them pulling on the door while the other pulls the lever.
The player and Oceana get into position, and Oceana counts to three and says "pull". Pulling when she says so successfully opens the doors to the King's Chamber, and Oceana and the player both agree that it's time to get out of the place. Before they leave, though, a North Atlantic right whale passes by the window, prompting Oceana to say:
Oceana: "Wow! That's a huge North Atlantic right whale. I guess they're here in Ciceros Strait too.
That was eerie. I swear that whale was looking straight at us."
The player and Oceana can then escape with their findings.
