The Striated Frogfish (Antennarius Striatus) is a small, odd-looking fish that makes an appearance in both Endless Ocean and Endless Ocean: Blue World.
Striated Frogfish

In-Game Description

Length: Roughly seven inches

Endless Ocean

"These fish have round, elliptical bodies, pectoral fins that resemble legs, and a fishing-rod-like protuberance that juts from the head. They come in a rich variety of colours and can be seen year-round in the sandy shallows of Manoa Lai."

Endless Ocean: Blue World

"This rounded fish is covered in small protuberances and has pectoral fins that have changed into leglike appendages and a fishing-rod-like protuberance above its mouth. As there are many varieties in body colour, it is difficult to tell spieces apart by body colour alone.

[Eggs Shrouded in Mystery]

This spieces lays eggs in what is known as epipelagic egg raft, when a large number of eggs are wrapped in a long gelatinous belt. The advanteges of this method of egg-laying are unclear."

In Endless Ocean, they can be found under zoom-mode glows on sandy patches of seafloor; in Endless Ocean 2, they are found in Deep Hole, around coordinate areas C-2 SW, A-3 SE, and C-4 NW.

  • This creature's in-game description in Endless Ocean is very similar to that of one of its cousins, the Painted Frogfish.
  • The word "striated" means "covered in striae". A single stria is a linear mark, slight ridge, or groove on a surface, often one of a number of similar parallel features.
